Ken Farmer is the owner of KFAuctions and Appraisals in Radford, Virginia. His company provides auctions, appraisals and private brokerage of all categories of tangible
assets – antiques, fine art, guns, coins, rare books, collectibles, dolls and more--individual
items or entire collections. Ken also offers real estate at auction in partnership with Woltz and Associates in Roanoke, Virginia.

Mr. Farmer is a member of the Certified Auctioneers Institute and the Appraisers Association of America. Ken has appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and is a featured appraiser on PBS' Antiques Roadshow

"Discovering the Past Through Objects: Adventures of a Real-Life History Detective"

by Wes Cowan – Crystal Room

Through television shows such as History Detectives and CSI, the public is learning more about the importance of archival institutions and their role in maintaining historical records. Wes Cowan, owner of Cowan's Auctions in Cincinnati, OH and star of PBS' tv series History Detectives and Antiques Roadshow, will offer his perspective on the evolving role of these institutions, the changing landscape of the antiques market, and share some interesting adventures.

Wes is President and Principal Auctioneer of Cowan's Auctions in Cincinnati, Ohio. Before founding his eponymous auction house, he taught at the Anthropology Department of Ohio State University and in 1984 he became the Curator of Archaeology at the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History. He is coeditor of The Origins of Agriculture in International Perspective and Societies in Eclipse: Eastern North America at the Dawn of European Colonization. In 1995, Wes left academia and the museum world to return to his childhood love - antiques.

Carleton Varney has incorporated antiques in his design projects for over 40 years. From restoring and decorating castles in Ireland, a palace in Lithuania, world renowned hotel/resorts, lavish private residences, an Ambassadorial residence, a Governor's Mansion, the Vice President's Residence, and as acting stylist at the White House, - his discerning eye can place a unique piece in the right setting to show it in its magnificence.

Mr. Varney has written many books on design, writes a design column for the Palm Beach Daily News and lectures extensively. He was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame and has been listed as one of the 30 Deans of Interior Design by Architectural Digest.
